The raw, unfiltered, oops-did-I-say-that moments of parenthood exposed by Balabusta Mom will make you laugh often, cry often, laugh until you cry at times and beg for more always!
Balabusta Mom is the newest addition to the blog lineup here at Albany.com, and it is every bit worthy of your loyal following. Seriously.
Branded by the initials BM inside a heart, this is NOT your average mommy blog. Author Janaiah Von Hassel shares the candid struggles, victories, ideas and aspirations of a modern day family. She is mother to two young boys and has lived in the Capital Region her entire life. Her mockery of the perfect, cookie-cutter family life is hilarious, and stories of her failed attempts to achieve that status are rousingly pitiful yet incredibly relatable, down to the littlest honest details.
Brand new with just a handful of blog posts thus far, Balabusta Mom delivers something new with each post, from entertaining anectdotes and I-need-a-beer moments to beautiful reflections on life and everything in between.
Although she has yet to post a poem, I can tell you as an insider that you are in for a real treat. Somehow her poetry boasts of the beauty and reeks of the reality of motherhood at the same time… with rhythm and rhyme, laughter and tears, sprinkles and poopy diapers… but she seamlessly pulls it off, like only she can.
These are a few snippets from previous blogs to give you a window into Janaiah’s personality-infused writing:
“So, I start to see this idea of growth differently. Growing is something that happens when you are in the right place being properly cared for. Maybe you’re reading this and thinking “ummm…duh!” But seriously it was a total “Holy Snap, I get it” moment for me.”
from Resolutions
“This happened about 3 times before I realized that I could not get out of the tub. I looked at Landon, and I knew he sensed the urgency. Like when Lassie goes to get help because Timmy is stuck in the well. So I told Landon “Go get Daddy.” Landon looked at me and, seeing my distress, he turned to leave. I breathed a sigh of relief as Landon turned back and hurled a bottle of shampoo at my head and laughed. No Lassie here!”
from Happy Birthday Christmas Angel
“I had this perfect idea of my boys and I going Christmas shopping together and letting them help me pick out everybody’s gifts. I saw this adorable picture in my head of my handsome little men (One in a green shirt and one in red, of course) and we were skipping along at the mall as Christmas music filled our ears and a distant Santa waved and winked our way.”
from I Got Your ‘Ho Ho’ Right Here
“This blog will cover all the ins and outs of motherhood from the daily struggles, the momentary joys, the heartaches, headaches, belly laughs, snotty noses, mashed potatoes on the ceiling fan, and everything in between.”
