The devastating Jay Street blaze that took four lives and displaced more than 60 people on March 6th was a low point for residents, businesses, and the community as a whole. Schenectady is resilient, though, and is determined to rise from the ashes. To help jump start that effort, a fundraiser will be held on April 1st to support businesses that have been lost, damaged, or closed as a result of the inferno.
The fundraiser, hosted by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corp. and Mazzone Hospitality, will take place from 5pm-8pm at Key Hall at Proctors. It looks to be a fun night for a great cause with food, a cash bar, and live music!
$25 is the minimum suggested donation and no RSVP is required to attend. If you cannot make it to the event, but would still like to help the cause, you can donate online until April 10th. Every little bit helps, and with time Jay Street will return to a state of normalcy, while never forgetting those who perished.
