The DEC will host a day filled with outdoor recreation activities for all ages and abilities at Five Rivers Environmental Center in Delmar, only a short drive away from Albany. The event will honor the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
On Saturday, July 25th, there will be guided trail tours, nature meditation, birding instruction and demonstrations designed to encourage everyone to spend more time outdoors. All events are wheelchair accessible and sign language interpretation and sighted guides will be available upon request.
The DEC chose Five Rivers as the site for this celebration for the number of accessible elements available for people with various abilities. All activities will be inclusive, advancing the vision of the ADA, which gave people with disabilities access to education, employment and full community participation.
The CDTA has donated a STAR bus to shuttle people who need transportation from the CDTA Park and Ride on Delaware Avenue, across from Delaware Plaza in Delmar. Buses will leave the Park and Ride at 10:00 AM, and will continue to shuttle riders throughout the day ending at 2:00 PM.
