Congregation Berith Sholom will celebrate 150 years of an active community in Troy at a Shabbat Shira Dinner and Service. Find out more!
The congregation will celebrate its Sesquicentennial with four events throughout 2016. The city of Troy was only fifty years old when in 1866 its Jewish citizens came together and formed what is now known as Berith Sholom.
Celebration activities will kick off with a Shabbat Shira Dinner and Service on January 22nd. In addition to the good food and warm welcome, the award-winning Berith Sholom Choir, under the direction of the conductor and accompanist Dan Foster, will be featured at the evening service.
Selections will include works written around the time of the founding of Berith Sholom and reprising pieces from services celebrating the 65th, 85th and 100th anniversary celebrations of the historic synagogue. The service will open with a piece that was commissioned for Berith Sholom, using the verse that appears above the main doorway to the sanctuary.
Don’t miss out on what’s sure to be a fantastic evening!
