Nominate a local young woman to be a part of this Albany tradition that stretches back nearly a century.
A committee of local leaders conducts an extensive interview process to select a Tulip Queen and four Tulip Court members. The Queen is crowned at the annual Tulip Festival and she, along with the Court members, will spend a full year working together on community outreach programs and educational initiatives for Albany.
What makes the ideal nominee? She should be between the ages of 18 and 23, possess leadership skills, have a strong sense of community and have knowledge of the Albany area and its rich history. Nominees will also need to reside in Albany County for the entire year of their reign (May 2016 – May 2017).
The Tulip Queen will be awarded a $5000 scholarship, and each Court member will receive a $1500 scholarship award upon completion of the program.
