The great news is that the free SummerNight concert in downtown Schenectady Friday, July 13 features the Grammy-nominated group Spin Doctors. The not-so-great news is that traffic on and around State Street will be impacted.

According to Schenectady County officials, traffic will be rerouted hours ahead of the 5 p.m. show, which runs until 10 p.m. The event takes place on State Street between Broadway and Barrett, and along the Jay Street pedestrian mall.
That means State Street between Broadway and Lafayette will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 10:00am on Friday. During these hours, State Street traffic will be diverted along Broadway (for eastbound traffic) and to Lafayette Street (for westbound traffic).
State Street between Lafayette Street and Nott Terrace will be closed to all traffic between 9:30pm and 11:00pm.
Drivers are cautioned that there will be no parking on State Street between Broadway and Nott Terrace beginning at 6:00am on Friday. Meters will be “bagged” and cars parked in violation of this restriction will be ticketed and/or towed.
The Clinton Street North parking lot will also be closed all day on Friday, except for monthly permit holders. However, permit holders will not be able to enter the lot after 1:00pm and the lot will not be accessible after 5:00pm. All other surface lots and the Broadway Parking Garage will remain open.
This event will also cause some CDTA bus routes to be altered.
But back to the good news: In addition to the hit-making Spin Doctors, the night’s bill also includes performances by Lucy, Bendt, Hudsons Crew, Shoebox Dojo, City Beat, and Kevin Carey.
