Mohawk Harbor Event Center Groundbreaking

On Monday, May 13 the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 50 million dollar event center at Mohawk Harbor took place. This groundbreaking shows major updates in the Schenectady area, as it will eventually provide the community with a 2,200-seat ice hockey rink with a capacity expanding to 3,600 seats for trade shows, special events, and conventions. This facility gives greater opportunities to Schenectady to have more events in the community, and it also will assist a local college with their sports program.

Union college located in downtown Schenectady has division one ice hockey for men and women, however they do not have skating facilities year-round. This facility will provide the college with year-round skating facilities, and a new home for their games for their 2025-2026 season.

This arena holds the future for community engagement and special events in Schenectady New York, and the end product will not disappoint.
