Register to run in the annual Troy Turkey Trot, or wake up early Thanksgiving morning to cheer from the sidelines! |
TROY NY — Since 1916, the Troy Turkey Trot has inspired runners, young and old, to get up and race each year on Thanksgiving morning. The race has grown into one of the largest road races in upstate New York with approximately 6,000 people expected participate. This year, the oldest race in the Capital Region continues in tradition with a few new changes in store.
All Turkey Trot events will start at 4th and Museum Place this year, which allows for much more room for runners to line up for the start of each race. There will be new start times for events (see below) and there will be no race day registration. Participants will be offered disposable timing strips to track runners' times.
Registration
Participants can register in person at the Troy City Hall, 1776 Sixth Avenue or runners can also register online for the 2011 Troy Turkey Trot. Online registration will close Wednesday, November 23rd at noon. There will be no day of race registration. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the mayor's office at (518) 279-7130.
Pre-race packet pick-up locations are TBA.
Day of race packet pick-up times are on Thursday, November 25th between 7:30am and 10:30am at the Troy Atrium (2nd Floor) in downtown Troy (4th Street between Federal Street and Broadway.)
Official Turkey Trot t-shirts will go on sale for $15 on Thanksgiving morning at 7:30 AM. All proceeds go to benefit a charity.
