About this event

When we think of the Revolutionary War, we often think of soldiers. Yet did you know that chaplains played a pivotal role in the war? This presentation will provide an overview of the history of chaplaincy, focusing on the often untold role of chaplains in the American Revolution, particularly in New York.

The presenter is Steve Andersen, an enthusiastic student of clergy during the Revolutionary War era, sharing as a docent at Fort Stanwix near Utica NY, Moore’s Creek Battlefield in NC, and the Mabee Farm in our backyard near Rotterdam NY. He will be dressed in authentic garb of an 18th century minister. He is also a chaplain at Albany Medical Center.

Presented in partnership with NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Schuyler Mansion.
