In 1763, Quaker John Allen sailed by sloop from Dartmouth, Massachusetts up the Hudson River to Lansingburgh before walking north to claim land in White Creek. He and his wife Mary first lived in a log cabin on the property before constructing this remarkable home in 1770 — a home that has stood for over 250 years. Rich in early American character and remarkably preserved, the residence features six fireplaces (three lined and operational), including a classic beehive oven, wide pine floorboards worn smooth by centuries, original strap hinges and hardware, and rare surviving glass window panes. In the birthing room, original paint stenciling remains — a quiet and intimate reminder of life in the 18th century. A second-floor center balcony reflects John Allen's role as Supervisor of the Road beginning in 1777, adding both architectural charm and historical significance. The property remained in the Allen family until 1972 and has had only three owners in its history — a rare stewardship of legacy.
