Key Race Details

The marathon begins in Schenectady, and the half marathon begins in Cohoes. Both races finish alongside the Hudson River at Jennings Landing in Albany. Because of the point-to-point course, complimentary bus transportation is provided to the start.

With a favorable route, mild weather, and top-notch logistics, this is a great race for both beginners and elite runners. The full marathon is a popular pick for anyone looking to BQ (qualify for the Boston marathon) while the 13.1-mile race is one of the best half marathons in New York State.

These races are held in mid-October, which is a great time to visit the Capital Region. Consider coming up early or staying a few days after the race (the Monday after the race is a holiday for many).

Whether you want to leaf peep, check out a cultural institution, or sample some delicious eats, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy.

Start & Finish:

  • Marathon Start: 2190 Technology Drive, Schenectady
  • Half Marathon Start: Colonie Town Park, 71 Schermerhorn Road, Cohoes
  • Finish (both races): Boat Launch at Corning Preserve in downtown Albany
