-Thoughts from a 22 year old
I never really understood why you should hire a wedding planner. Can’t the bride just do everything herself? Won’t you just be spending twice as much by hiring one? I’ve thought this for a while, but it wasn’t until the past few years that my friends began getting engaged and married that my opinion changed.
My friend Savanah is getting married in one month and I have gotten to witness first hand all of the time and effort it takes to plan a wedding, not to mention lack of sleep and stress. She had an idea in her head about what she wanted, but she did not know how to make that happen. A lot of research and comparing prices and places is involved in the planning stages. Many people, especially these days, are working a full schedule and barely have time for themselves. The bride doesn’t want to worry about all the fuss, she just wants her dream wedding to magically happen and wants to be able to enjoy the engagement. This is where the wedding planner comes in to play.
Who knows what a reasonable price is for a DJ? Or what to look for in a photographer? Or where to go to get the center pieces? Not me! And not most of the brides-to-be out there. The knowledge base of the wedding planner is one of the most useful things to you. They have been in the industry for years and are experts in the business. They know about the vendors in the area, who can and can’t be trusted, and the cost of every little thing. Because wedding planners provide so much business to vendors, they are often able to negotiate discounts for their clients. They will actually help their clients save enough money on their wedding to cover the cost of hiring them! The planner will save you time and enable you to get the most for your money. They aren’t there to make decisions for you, but to guide you in making informed decisions so that all of your desires are met and often surpassed.
The wedding planner is helpful on the day of the wedding as well. They make sure everything is running smoothly and the little mess-ups are taken care of as quickly as possible, without the bride knowing something went wrong. Brides don’t want to worry about anything on their wedding day. They want to relax, have fun, and enjoy the moment. The planner makes sure this happens.
Most brides have been dreaming about their wedding day their entire life. The job of the wedding planner is to make their dream become a reality, making sure it’s still in their budget and the bride and family and friends are stress-free. Hiring a wedding planner can be one of the best things you do for yourself!
