Gazette Holiday Parade In Schenectady

Fairy Tales And Bedtime Stories Will Be The Highlight At The 2008 Holiday Parade

Schenectady Holiday Parade Display The annual Gazette Holiday Parade in Schenectady is a cause for celebration among all ages.

SCHENECTADY NY — Giant Fictional characters will light the streets of Schenectady as well as young children's faces at the 2008 Gazette Holiday Parade! This year's theme "Fairy Tales and Bedtime Stories" will bring Curious George and Mother Goose to downtown Schenectady, among others.

The Gazette Holiday Parade will step off at 5 pm on Nov. 22 from the corner of Lafayette and State Street. The route will continue along State Street and end near Schenectady County Community College, which is a change from last year’s route. The reviewing stand will be in the south side parking lot nearest Proctors Theatre.

Children attending the parade will see many familiar faces from their favorite storybooks, including:

  • Little Bo-Peep
  • Peter Pan
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • The Three Little Pigs
  • Curious George
  • Mother Goose
  • And more!

The Electric City Clown Alley and other special guests will provide entertainment before the parade steps off. Retiring Congressman Michael McNulty will be the Grand Marshal of this year's Holiday Parade.

The City of Schenectady will close State Street to traffic for the hours of the parade, expected to run from 5 pm to 7 pm. The westbound lanes of the Western Gateway Bridge to Scotia will also be closed. Eastbound traffic will continue as usual.
