In all of the excitement of the Bride, the gown, the flowers etc do not forget it is also the Grooms Day. We want him to feel as special and as excited as the Bride and you can be sure that his Mother is as excited ( I am the mother of 3 boys and do not do well in beige.)
What to do – I am teaching a class on event planning this semester and this is one of the excercises – “10 ways to make the Groom feel special “. Some of the suggestions – Bride can give her honey a Grooms survival kit before the wedding – great idea – what should be in it ?- Remember he has some opinions of his own – usually on the food, menu and even the decor. They have favorite colors and more importantly things they may not WANT – remember to hear their voices. There is a fabulous new bridal registry geared just to the guys — www.themanregistry.com – fabulous idea. Make the clothing choices special – does he want to wear a tuxedo ? would he be happier in something else – How about gorgeous special ties for him and his guys instead of those pre tied jobs. I have had some weddings with the guys given some amazing shirts and ties to wear and to keep afterwards. He should be planning the honeymoon – thinking of transportation – keep his favorite flavors, colors and hobbies in mind. Make sure he gets a “guy day” with his buddies – Any other ideas guys ? we would love to hear them – send them in –
How about a Grooms Show instead of a Bridal Show ? what would you love to see –
And as a final note – Mothers – keep in touch – We just had a panic call from a mother of the bride and a Mother of the Groom who bought identical gowns from the same shop-
