TROY NY – Don't miss the first ever Troy Pig Out BBQ Festival in downtown Troy NY. It's going to be a BBQ lover's dream! Top competitors from all over the northeast will head to downtown Troy on July 19 - 20, 2008 for a chance to show off their barbeque and grilling talents and a shot at winning some of the $7500 in prize money to be awarded throughout the course of the event.
Ready, Set, Pig Out! From big-name competitors to regular Joe's, many different restaurants, groups and individuals will bring their best BBQ to the Backyard BBQ Contest on Saturday to prove their skills at Troy Pig Out... even Mayor Harry Tutunjian has entered! The fun continues on Sunday with the NYS BBQ Championship, where serious barbeque contenders will go head to head for a spot in the Kansas City Barbecue Society Nationals.
Troy Pig Out is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, and winners will be chosen by certified BBQ judges. Regardless of who wins or loses, there will be plenty of barbeque to go around, so go ahead and pig out!
Live music, crafters, entertainment and fireworks are also on the agenda for this street festival in Riverfront Park. Front Street in Troy will be closed to traffic for the duration of the Troy Pig Out event to accommodate festival goers and competitors.
Sponsors of Troy Pig Out -- Troy Downtown Collaborative, Tosca Grill and Chef's Solutions have been working closely with the City of Troy to organize this inaugural BBQ fest in Troy. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
