Bites Camera Action Will Return to Downtown Albany This Summer
After requesting feedback from the local community, the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) and the State University of New York (SUNY) are excited to announce the return of the Bites Camera Action free outdoor summer movie series. The movie series will take place on the first Friday of every month from May 6 – October 7, and the first movie on the schedule is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. All screenings are weather dependent and will be held on the lawn at SUNY Plaza.
Albany Distilling Company Opens a New Production Facility
Known for their rum, whiskey, and vodka products, Albany Distilling Company has recently opened a new production facility at 718 Third Street in Albany. The Albany Business Review reports that this new space is about 8,500 square feet, which is a large increase from its previous 1,500-square foot space. This new facility will allow the craft distillery to triple its output and modernize the distilling and bottling process.
Albany Distilling Company plans to use its former space on Montgomery Street for barrel storage, and customers can still visit the Bar and Bottle Shop at 75 Livingston Avenue.
Shop for a Good Cause at The Vandy Thrift Shoppe
Located at 412 Broadway in downtown Albany, The Vandy Thrift Shoppe is a new thrift store operated by Vanderheyden, a nonprofit agency in Wynantskill that empowers youth, adults, and families to build brighter futures. The store offers low prices on high-end clothing, home decor, and accessories, and according to an article from the Times Union, all of the merchandise has been donated.
In fact, The Vandy Thrift Shoppe’s mission is to operate on 100% donations, and all of the store’s earnings will support Vanderheyden’s programming and services. Their hours of operation are currently Wed – Fri, 11AM-2PM, and Sat, 11AM-4PM.
Hit the Green at Burden Lake Country Club
It’s time to dig out your golf clubs and hit the green – golf season has kicked off in the Capital Region. If you’re ready to rediscover your swing, then check out Burden Lake Country Club in Averill Park, which is now open for the 2022 season. This 18-hole golf course is located a short drive from Albany, Troy, Guilderland, Colonie, and Latham, and you can call the Pro Shop for tee times and info at 518-674-1770.
