Albany Tulip Festival In Washington Park The Albany Tulip Festival celebrates its 62nd year as over 200,000 tulips spring to life in Washington Park for this highly anticipated event.

ALBANY NY — This year’s Albany Tulip Festival runs from Friday, May 7 - Sunday, May 9, 2009, 11am - 6pm and boasts over 140 different kinds of tulips, fine arts exhibits, live music & entertainment and much more! Admission to the Albany Tulip Festival is FREE.*

Friday, May 7

Street Scrubbing - State and Lodge Streets - 12:00 noon
The Tulip Festival is a time for the City of Albany to celebrate its Dutch heritage as the oldest Dutch settlement in America. Girls in authentic Dutch costumes kick off the festival each year with the traditional scrubbing of State Street. Hosted by Joe Condon of B95.5 FM, this year's Street Scrubbing will feature a Mayoral Proclamation, the Albany Police Pipe and Drum band, The Sweet Adelines Choir and the 2009 Tulip Queen Finalists.

Tulip Festival Luncheon - Crowne Plaza Hotel, Grand Ballroom, Albany - 12:30 pm
Join the City of Albany in saying farewell to the 2008 Tulip Queen, Sarah Volk and her Court. The Tulip Festival Luncheon will feature a fashion show by Your Retro Fashions and special guest MC Lydia Kulbida will host this event, which benefits Vanguard Albany-Symphony. Reservations required - call 465-4755. Cost: $35

Saturday, May 8

Pre Coronation - Amphitheatre Stage - 10:30 am - Noon
10:45 am – 11: 30 am – Eribeth Chamber Players
11:30 am – 11:45 am – Fashion Show by Albany High School Fashion Club
11:45 am – 12:00 noon – The Mendelssohn Club

Tulip Queen Procession - Formal tulip beds in Washington Park near Moses Statue - 11:45 am
The 2008 Tulip Queen Sarah Volk, Mayor Jerry Jennings, and the Albany Police Pipes and Drums will lead the five Tulip Queen finalists to the Amphitheatre stage.

Tulip Queen Coronation - Amphitheatre Stage - 12:00 noon

The Royal Tulip Ball - Wolferts Roost Country Club - 6:30 pm

Join in a delightful evening of dining and dancing to honor the new Tulip Queen and Court. Enjoy an elegant dual entrée and music by the New York Players. This year's Royal Tulip Ball benefits Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany. Tickets required - call 426-2667.
