2020 Virtual Albany Tulip Festival
Although the 2020 in-person Tulip Festival has been canceled, we can still enjoy the beauty of the tulips virtually thanks to Discover Albany and the City of Albany's Office of Cultural Affairs.
The two organizations are working together to bring us Albany's first ever Virtual Tulip Festival complete with musical performances, tulip garden tours, takeout specials from local restaurants, a self-guided driving tour, and even tips & tricks for your own backyard tulips.
Visit Albany Events' YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCyFVLzEQAU&t=8672s) at noon on Saturday, May 9 to:
- See musical performances from local talents like The Age, Erin Harkes, Hartley's Encore, Caity Gallagher, and many others.
- Go on a virtual tour of the tulip beds with City of Albany Gardeners
- Watch a magic show for kids by Melvin the Magnificent
You can also use the hashtag #518TulipTracker to see new blooming flowers across the city on "Tulip Tuesdays" for the next few weeks.
Some other Tulip Fest-themed social distancing activities and online content you can enjoy include a history review of Tulip Fest’s origins and ties to Albany’s Dutch sister city, Nijmegen, Netherlands and a Q&A with the Washington Park Conservancy about the tulips of Washington Park.
