Price Chopper in Cortland NY let us down tonight. It was Easter Eve and we used the Coin-star machine to cash in change at 7PM. We took our receipt to the service desk to get our money and noticed a small sign saying it had closed. We asked a young man who we thought was a manager what to do. He told us "No problem, you can go through the line and a cashier will help you." It was Easter Eve and there was only one line open with a human cashier. So we waited 20 minutes. Then the cashier who appeared new said I don't know how to do it. So we waited another 5 minutes for a manager. When the manager came over she shamed us and was very unkind. She said we don't do Coin- star if the service desk is not open. I said well the young man who we thought was a manager said we could do it in the checkout line. We have been line for 25 minutes. There is no sign by the Coin Star machine saying that and we have done it before. She said "I am the manager, and I said we are not doing it". I said to her, then you can say it kindly and perhaps explain to us what we do now to get our money. She said Coin-star is a separate company and it is not my problem. By now she had embarrassed us and made us feel like scumbags. She should not be a manager and Price Chopper should be kinder and help people not shame them. By the way Price Chopper, please don't have Coin-star machines in your stores if you are going to make people feel bad when they use them. How about training your staff in customer service and kindness.
