The loss leaves UAlbany 8-12 on the season and 1-4 in the conference. Boston U receiving 24 points and 8 rebounds from America East Preseason Player of the Year John Holland.
Will Brown’s Great Danes built their 16 point halftime lead on sharp 62% shooting in the first half. However in the 2nd half UAlbany seemed out of whack on offense, struggling to get anything going while Boston U staged their comeback.
Tim Ambrose led the Great Danes with 18 points. UAlbany returns to the court Monday at Stony Brook.
Observations
Boston U did a great job of bottling up Mike Black, sophomore was held to 8 points and 8 assists. He was fantastic running the point in the first half, but in the second half, he was pretty much a non-factor. Without him having a strong game, the Danes don’t have much of a chance.
When the offense if going poorly, as it was in the second half, UAlbany’s offensive sets usually involve swinging the ball around until the shot clock nears zero and either Tim Ambrose or Logan Aronhalt tossing up a contested shot.
Ralph Watts played one of his best games of the year chipping in 7 points and 6 rebounds. The development of more playmakers is huge for the future of Will Brown’s program.
