Fall is here! Finally a bit of cool weather and that nice crisp breeze in the air. Here comes the best time of year for one of the most fun exercises you can find… and the best part is – anyone can do it!
So, what is it? HIKING!
You don’t have to be an expert to hike. All you need is a good pair of sneakers (or hiking boots) and a desire to be in nature. Hiking not only burns mega calories, it increases your agility and stability by working different muscles in your core, legs and feet and gives your heart and lungs a new challenge.
If you’re used to doing cardio on a machine or flat surface, this will get your heart rate pumping just like going up the stairs. Don’t let that intimidate you, though, hiking is at your own pace and the benefit of slowing down is that you get to look around you and enjoy the scenery. What’s more, the altered terrain keeps your mind engaged as well.
It’s a great activity to do with friends too. Share stories as you work your way up and pack a nice healthy lunch to enjoy at the top. Take a look around and soak in a bird’s eye view of beauty.
Get out there and enjoy!!
Sincerely,
K
