For years, film festivals in Albany have typically been around the Lark Street or Delaware Avenue areas - this year, change is in the air. The festival will be a week-long event, starting with the Festival Open Reception on Wednesday, February 24th, with the festival screenings at the Madison Theater from February 25th to the 27th, with a Closing Gala event on Sunday, February 28th (Locations and Times TBA). Admission will be $5.00 for single seats, $20.00 for family four packs, with a portion of the proceeds going toward the Aurora Foundation of Northeast, a Lark Street-based foundation that promotes environmental awareness, civil rights, and educational opportunities. Festival selection criteria is that films can be up to 20 minutes in length and produced between 2007 and 2009. There will be six award categories, reviewed by the committee of jurors, for Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Actor, Best Actress, People?s Choice (voted upon by festival attendees), and Web Choice.
