When it comes to food we can unapologetically eat with our hands, chicken wings are at the top of the list. They’re crisp, they’re delicious, and they’re an easily shareable, communal food item we can enjoy with others.
We are lucky to have many restaurants in the Capital Region that serve up sizzling hot and satisfying wings — so many that choosing one restaurant over another can be a challenge. But, what if you didn’t have to choose? What if you could sample wings from over a dozen area eateries in just one location?
At the Capital Region Wing Wars on November 3rd, you can! Not only will you get to indulge in more chicken wings than you probably thought possible in one sitting, but it’s all for a great cause.

Wing Wars Details to Know
Capital Region Wing Wars, which is now in its 15th year, is taking place at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy on November 3rd. In addition to over 15 participating restaurants, there will be beer and wine available for purchase, free pizza, a live DJ, a 50/50 raffle, and a dessert table.
The $25 admission price includes two wings from each restaurant – that adds up to over 30 wings per person!
There is a People’s Choice Vote, where everyone votes on the Most Popular Wing and the Most Original Flavor. Then, a blind taste test is conducted by a panel of 10 judges to determine the Grand Champion and the Runner Up for the official best chicken wing of the night.
All Wing Wars proceeds go to the St. Jude the Apostle Tuition Assistance Program, and in addition, you’ll be supporting your favorite area restaurants.
Who’s Serving Up the Mouthwatering Wings

Here’s who’s participating this year: A.J.’s Pizzeria, The Angry Penguin, Black Bear Inn, B-Rad’s Catering, Brown’s Brewing Company, Carol’s Place & The Eatery, FatCats, Forty One Sports Bar & Grille, Junior’s Bar & Grill, Park Pub, Patricelli’s, Philly’s Bar and Lounge, Pig Pit BBQ, Price Chopper/Market 32, Recovery Sports Bar, Slidin’ Dirty, and Valenti’s Pub.
B-rad’s Catering took the title of 2017 Grand Champion with a Death Wish Coffee and Raspberry BBQ Wing. Junior’s Bar and Grill nabbed the title of Most Original Flavor last year, with a Spiced Peanut Butter Banana Sauce With Candied Bacon Wing.
Clearly, chicken wing flavors here go way beyond a simple spicy or barbecue wing, and guests can expect a wide range of palate-pleasing tastes.
