About this event

Rock City Falls Trio celebrates the release of its debut album, SIGNAL (Adhyâropa Records, 2026), with a performance at Mount Ida Preservation Hall.

Featuring Alex Chang on harp and electronics, Jason Handron on double bass, and Adam Forman on drums, the Capital Region-based trio creates improvisation-driven music that moves fluidly between composed themes and free improvisation. Drawing on classical, jazz, indie, and experimental influences, their contemporary cross-genre sound explores mood, atmosphere, rhythm, and texture through collaborative listening and spontaneous musical interplay.

The trio’s work frequently extends beyond traditional performance through collaborations with visual and multidisciplinary artists. Past projects include EQUILIBRIUM with Christian A. Mendoza, WATER with Michael Miyahira (Mike Ming), and Sonic Explorations in Troy with Manuel J Perez III, developed through an incubator residency at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and presented at the 2025 Improv Spaces Music Festival. Their recent collaboration Re:evolution: The World at Play with multidisciplinary artist Carlin Ma premiered as a work-in-progress at the 2026 Improv Spaces Music Festival.

Released in August 2026, SIGNAL captures the range of the trio’s collaborative practice — from structured compositions and musical frameworks to open-ended improvisation. Join Rock City Falls Trio at Mount Ida for an evening of adventurous, atmospheric music celebrating their first album.
