Michael Jackson Dies - Internet Search Activity Soars

The recent double death of both Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson have fans anxiously searching the internet with the old maxim of "celebrities die in threes" and the memory of Gianni Versace, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa in 1997.

Jackson, however, was by far the most searched celebrity, causing certain cites to crash and Google to report search activity as reaching the "volcanic" level. The late King of Pop died at age 50 of cardiac arrest following 37 years of a highly successful music career.

His popularity during that career was evidenced in his Guinness World Record breaks - 13 Grammy Awards and 13 number one singles, the most for any male artist in the Top 100 era - both Times and Vanity Fair cite Jackson as bigger than Elvis and the most popular artist in the history of show business.

His death on June 25, 2009 was mourned by an immense fanbase, members of which vowing that his legacy will live on.
