The New York State Crime Victims Memorial is located on the north side of the Empire State Plaza. Dedicated in 1996, it is a limestone and calcite boulder that commemorates fallen and surviving victims of crime and their families.
The memorial walkway was dedicated in 1997 and is a brick pathway from the Crime Victims' memorial to the adjacent sidewalk. The first bricks placed were done by the Capital District Coalition for Crime Victim's Rights, an Albany-based group dedicated to increasing awareness of the effects of crimes and victims.
