About this event
The Warmth of Winter is our annual community event to help seniors stay warm. Each year this event raises funds to help defray the cost of heating the homes of seniors and assist them in repairing and maintaining their heating systems. Winter is especially challenging for those on fixed incomes which is why Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc. (CSSC) reaches out to the community for support.
In addition to helping with heating bills, funds are allocated to help seniors repair and maintain their heating systems. National Grid predicts a 39% increase in heating costs this winter, and some seniors will be forced to choose between medications, groceries, and fuel bills. Warmth of Winter is about supporting members of our community; more specifically, our seniors and their ability to keep their heat on.
