Hit the Ice at the Empire "Skate" Plaza

Whether you're a seasoned skater or trying it for the first time, the Empire State Plaza Ice Skating Rink is the perfect place to be. The rink offers free admission, affordable skate rentals, and a welcoming atmosphere for families, friends, and date nights under the lights.

Opening Day is Friday, December 6, 2024, and the rink will remain open throughout the winter season (weather permitting).

2024-2025 Hours of Operation

Tuesday - Friday:

  • 10AM-1:30PM
  • 2:30PM-6PM

Saturday and Sunday:

  • 10AM-12PM
  • 1PM-3PM
  • 4PM-6PM

Special Events

In addition to Opening Day's Rock-N-Skate on December 6, 2024, there will be other special events at the Empire State Plaza Ice Skating Rink.

Check out the Learn to Skate Clinics presented by Highmark Blue Shield on the following dates:

  • December 7, 2024: 8AM, 8:45AM, 9:30AM
  • January 4, 2025: 8AM, 8:45AM, 9:30AM
  • February 1, 2025: 8AM, 8:45AM, 9:30AM
  • March 1, 2025: 8AM, 8:45AM, 9:30AM

Additional Details

  • Admission is free.
  • Skate rentals cost $5, and sizes range from child size 8 to adult size 15, subject to availability. A Photo ID is required to rent skates.
  • Every Saturday is Hannaford Free Skate Rental Saturday.
  • Amenities include 25 cent locker rentals, skate rentals, and refreshments available in the glass pavilion adjacent to the rink.
  • The Ice Skating Rink is closed on Mondays.
