About the Troy Pig Out

An official Empire State competition citing New York pride in its place as the site of events that highlight the state and its tradition of excellence in offering unique foods and specialty dishes often based upon tried and true recipes that have endured through the generations. 

One of the most loved events in the Capital Region, the Troy Pig Out is a full day of fun where culinary competitors duke it out for best BBQ, and people flock to Riverfront Park to taste some of the area’s best food.

Barbecue masters will be challenged for the top prize in the following categories:

  • Mayor's Choice

Main Stage Schedule

Hot Dog Eating Contest

Hembold's and Famous Lunch invite you to partake in the annual Troy Pig Out Hot Dog Eating Contest! Two contests will be offered at 11:00am and at 1pm with four contestants each.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que People's Choice Awards

Your favorite Dinosaur Bar-B-Que People's Choice Awards are back this year with $2 pork rib tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the information tent at the entrance of Front Street, starting at 3pm and can be redeemed between 5pm and 6:30pm at any of the participating vendor booths. Don't forget to vote for your favorite pork ribs and return your vote to the information booth by 7pm!

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in the evening on stage. The winners of the Troy Pig Out BBQ competition will be announced as well.

Collar City Cornhole Tournament

Do you love cornhole? Join the competition this year! Founded in the Midwest, cornhole is the backyard game now taking the East Coast by storm. With multiple single elimination tournaments throughout the day, you're bound to win a prize, and it's free to play.

Tournaments will take place at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm.

Parking

Parking in the Central Business District is limited to two hours from 9am to 5pm and four hours in the designated areas by metered pay stations. There are also approximately 1,000 parking spots in the City's seven parking garages located on Fifth Avenue and Broadway, First Street next to the YWCA, Congress Street and Fifth Avenue, Front Street behind The Arts Center, State & River Streets, and River Street next to the Green Island Bridge.

Parking is free on nights and weekends in parking garages and lots.

Event Rules

No alcoholic beverages, coolers, backpacks, bags, containers, packages, thermoses, cups, bottles, cans, flasks, glass containers of any kind, animals, or pets (excluding ADA-defined service animals).

Security personnel reserve the right to inspect any bag, container, or package, and confiscate any prohibited or illegal items.

All attendees should be prepared to present age identification at any time and wear BID-provided identifying bracelet at all times within the event grounds if they intend to consume alcohol.
