Ukrainian Festival to benefit humanitarian aid for Ukraine

A Ukrainian festival featuring folk dancers, singers, musical groups, arts and crafts, as well as traditional Ukrainian food, will be held at the Polish Community Center at 225 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, New York on September 19th. The event is open to the public. A day of performances, vendors, and Ukrainian cuisine, start at noon and continue to 6 pm, followed by dancing to live music until 10pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Free admission for children who are five years old and younger. The festival is spearheaded by the Capital District branch of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA). Importantly, all festival proceeds will be donated to humanitarian and benevolent aid for Ukraine. Tickets available at the festival are tax-deductible.

Dr. Andrij Baran president of the local UCCA chapter said: “Past festivals helped Ukrainian children, wounded soldiers in need of medical aid, and troops in need of safety equipment. Previous fundraisers allowed the group to purchase a vehicle used to transfer international humanitarian aid from Poland and the United States to different regions of operation in Ukraine.  The purchase was documented and monitored through the delivery cycle. A member of the 518Ukrainians Group, Medical Relief for Ukraine, has purchased important rehabilitation equipment to aid in soldiers’ recovery from wounds suffered during the war   Besides purchasing rehabilitation equipment several major initiatives have raised funds for orphaned children; medical, educational and emotional relief.”

Like last year’s festival, all proceeds from will go to providing humanitarian aid. Come to our festival, rejoice in our culture, have fun, dance to the music, meet very determined and very nice folks who have volunteered to make this fundraising effort succeed.

The event will be held at the Polish Community Center at 225 Washington Avenue Extension in Albany, New York. This year's program is especially ambitious featuring several Ukrainian dance ensembles, folk bands and singers. Other performers will make the day and evening a special time to enjoy, dance, meet and greet and have fun. Dancing to live music will start at 6pm and continue until 10pm.  The event includes Ukrainian foods, traditional borscht, stuffed cabbage, perogies, kielbasa, kabobs and desserts. Exhibits of Ukrainian embroidery, eggs and artifacts will be shown and have fun. Ukraine aid organizations including 518Ukrainians, Revived Soldiers Ukraine, who help in the rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian army soldiers, BlueSky Ukraine, who help Ukrainian civilians, as well as Medical Relief Ukraine will be on hand to explain their efforts.  Tax deductible donations to these specific relief organizations can be made at the event.
