Scrimshaw, the Capital Region’s only AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant for three consecutive years has recently completed renovations to its fine dining room and enhanced its menu to provide a truly remarkable culinary experience.
The fine dining room at Scrimshaw, located within The Desmond in Albany, NY, is rich in history and art. The dining room is decorated with ship models, paintings, a rare Steinway grand piano, and of course, an elegant collection of the art of scrimshaw.
As seen in the photo, fine crystal, elegant flatware, crisp linen, fresh flowers and candlelight are now presented within a lighter, brighter shade of wall paper under softer energy efficient lighting that accentuate the room’s traditional style.
And the cuisine is every bit as award-winning as its surroundings, as Scrimshaw has recently captured an Achievement of Excellence Award from the American Culinary Federation. Scrimshaw favorites include Colorado Rack of Lamb, Diver Scallops, Atlantic Halibut and the Chateaubriand, which can be served for two and prepared table side.
The addition of Stephen Fratianni, who previously was with the hotel in another capacity, as Chef de Cuisine, and Frank Rivera, as the restaurant’s General Manager, combines culinary expertise with a proven service record that creates a level of cuisine excellence and service that would rival any other in the region. Fratianni describes Scrimshaw’s menu and the new changes, as “elegant, proven and diverse.”
A trip to Scrimshaw is ideal for a romantic evening out (Valentine’s Day, anyone?), family celebrations, special occasions and more. It’s ideal for tourists and locals alike who want to experience one of the best fine dining restaurants in Albany. Reservations are suggested.
