The City of Albany invites you to their 4th annual Father’s Day celebration: Dad Fest! The free event will take place on Sunday, June 17, at the Washington Park Parade Grounds. Enjoy the day with live music, great food, kids’ activities, and the brand new Classic Car Show!
Good Tunes & Good Times
What better way to celebrate fantastic fathers than with an afternoon in Washington Park? The festival kicks off at 1 PM, and the first live performance, by Sly Fox and the Hustlers, will start at 1:30 PM. Sly Fox and the Hustlers’ style is described as “Heavy Voodoo Blues over Swampy Funky Grooves!”
From 3 PM to 4 PM, enjoy a performance by the “frequently funky and always soulful” Hartley’s Encore! The Albany band has shared the stage with greats like Eric Krasno of Soulive/Lettuce, was selected as a “[Band] You Should Know,” by NYSMusic.com in 2017, and on April 20, 2018, released their self-titled debut record. You can listen on Spotify, download on iTunes and other major digital platforms, or wait until Dad Fest to pick up the CD.
Then, see Grand Central Station perform from 4:30 to 6 PM, ending the day with tunes that will get you on your feet. The 6 piece group has a Triple A rating with the Better Business Bureau and, celebrating 39 years in the entertainment business, says their mission is to keep the dance floor packed. No smoke and mirrors, just great dance music.
Fun For The Whole Family
The day isn’t just for dads! From 1 PM to 6 PM, kids will have a blast at the bounce house, rock climbing with Climb Time, participating in soccer workshops with Afrims Sports, and getting their faces painted. But that’s not all! You can also see young up-and-coming musicians from the School of Rock program perform throughout the day.
Also throughout the day, be sure to check out the Classic Car Show – a brand new addition to Dad Fest! Hundreds of cars will circle the inner roads of the Park from 1 PM to 6 PM.
